Time to reflect

Often in the fast-paced business world we don’t have time to stop and reflect on what we have achieved. Although we now know we have a majority Conservative government and the Brexit process is moving forward there is still some uncertainty regarding the outlook for the UK economy for the next 12 months and beyond. Take stock of your business status and be as well prepared as you can be for the challenges ahead. Consider what worked well in your business and what didn’t, also celebrate all you have achieved in 2019.

Set your 2020 goals

It is also a good time to consider your 2020 business goals, or business New Year’s Resolutions. These don’t have to be a fully formed plan for now, but consider how you would like your business and work-life balance to look 12 months from now.

It may be that you want to grow your business, secure finance or develop a new product or service. Alternatively your aim may be to achieve a better work-life balance or spend more time ‘on’ your business, rather than ‘in’ the business.  You may also need to consider steps to protect your business through Brexit.

By considering your 2020 goals now you will be in a good place to formulate a plan in the New Year with your end goal in mind. If you identify a need for additional finance, more staff or changes to your products or services identify those people that can help (accountant, bank manager etc.) and be ready to speak to them early in the New Year.
